Intrinsa – What is it?

Intrinsa, a brand owned by Procter & Gamble in Germany, is a transdermal patch meant for women for the treatment of female sexual dysfunction. When applied, the patch automatically releases an amount of 300 micrograms through the skin in a continuous manner, over a period of 24 hours. A single patch of Intrinsa can be used continuously for 3 or 4 days, after which the amount of testosterone in it will diminish to a very low amount. The patch must be ideally replaced with a fresh one every third day.

Intrinsa – What are the Side-Effects?

There are various side-effects associated with the usage of Intrinsa. Some of these side-effects are quite intense and must be reported to the doctor immediately, or they can complicate into more serious conditions. However, most of the side-effects associated with the usage of Intrinsa are mild and do not need medical attention.

The side-effects that must be reported to the health administrator as soon as they appear include:-

  • Itching can occur in some women they apply Intrinsa. This is actually not particular to Intrinsa; it can happen with all transdermal patches.
